Even the most sophisticated statistical analysis are not useful to a business if they do not lead to actionable advice, or if the answers to those business questions are not conveyed in a way that non-technical people can understand. Data visualization is the key to this problem.
This is a beginner’s guide to data visualization using Tableau. The module covers the basic and advanced concepts of data visualization in a step by step format. Each topic in the module is explained using real-time data sets. Students gain hands-on experience by creating the visualizations on tableau by following the instructor through various data sets.
This program aims to pave the way for a beginner to become an expert who can deploy his/ her visualization skills at the workplace for presenting complex business cases and deriving insights.

This course is intended to give a holistic understanding of Data visualization and its application using Tableau as a tool. At the end of this program the participant would:

Understand key concepts of Data Visualization
Introduction of Tableau as a tool for data visualization and its various functions
Understand using tableau for various data types
Gain hands-on experience in creating visuals on real life dataset
Understand interpreting visualizations for effective decision making
The program consists of 16 hours of blended sessions including instructor-led sessions and online assignments, conducted as 2 hour live-online weekend classes by an instructor over 4 weeks. Online assignments are self-paced with mandatory submissions. Learning Management System supports all online activates including labs.
The program is designed for beginners and no prerequisites are needed. However, exposure to different types of charts and concepts of database management system will be helpful.
Computer - preferably Windows 7 or higher/ Mac OS installed
Operating System - Windows (Version XP or later) / Mac OS X with XQuartz
Minimum 8 GB RAM on the system
The latest version Tableau installed on their system. (Free version/ student version of Tableau can be subscribed at https://www.tableau.com/academic/students)
