Purpose of the Quality Theme in PRINCE2

The purpose of the Quality Theme:

The purpose of the quality theme is to define and implement the means by which the project will create and verified products that are fit for purpose

The PRINCE2 quality theme insurers that a project's products

  • Meet business expectations

  • Enable the decide benefits to be achieved subsequently

Both of these are very important the products must meet expectations and then must enabled the project's benefits to be achieved. This is closely associated with the "focus on products" principle whereby there is a clear understanding ofthe products a project will create and the criteria against which they will be assessed. Full project costs and timescales can only be estimated after the quality criteria and associated activities have been included in the plans. There is a cost to ensuring this quality. The quality theme includes methods and responsibilities for the products and for the management of the project.

The quality theme also addresses continuous improvement during a project. A continuous improvement is also enabled by capturing and acting on lessons learned. So quality is not restricted to the products they are being produced quality is also applied to the project management.

Quality

Quality is defined as the totality of features and inherent or assigned characteristics of a product, person, process, service and or system that bear on its ability to show that it meets expectations will satisfy stated needs, requirements or specification. Note that in PRINCE2 a products can also be a person, a process, a service or system. When we talk about products without necessarily mean material objects that you can pick up or driver and in or living we can also talk about those more abstract and personal types of products. That definition of quality is not one that you would necessarily need to memorize and be able to reproduce in the exam but it's only one that you would need to recognize as eight definition of quality. And that's true with quite a few of these definitions quite often exam questions of things like here is a definition what is it the definition of All the CE the first word in this case would be a knitted in that question.

Scope :

Scope is defined by the products breakdown structure for the plan and its associated products descriptions. Now in this case one of like you to do is to start to regularly check glossary definitions of some terms. So for instance here to the definition of scope in the glossary tools the end of the Manual check products breakdown structure and products description.

Quality Management:

Quality Management comprises the coordinated activities to direct and control and organize a nation with regard to quality. And the quality management system is the complete set of quality standards, procedures and responsibilitiesfor the site or organization. A projects approach to quality may need to takeinto account different quality management systems for the differentorganizations involved. This is quite often an issue where you have twoor three patched different suppliers and organizations to thecustomer organization. And then met each have their own quality management systems and is very important in a project to make sure that you satisfy the needs of each of these within the way you set out quality management for the project. In addition of Kohl's a project that is part of the program may be required to follow the program's quality management system. So that may be another direction in which you have to look for guidance and requirements in terms of quality management systems and the quality management approach to use

Control Quality:

Control focuses on the operational techniques and activities use by those in a project to fulfill the requirements for quality and identify ways of eliminating courses of unsatisfactory performance. So typically tool for for the requirements for quality the controls steps we may take include quality inspections and testing of the products that are being produced. Identifying ways of eliminate in courses of unsatisfactory performance is really an example of process improvement as a result of lessons learned. So that's in the early stages of a project when you're starting to produce some of the products you may find that some of the things that you're doing and not producing the best results or perhaps not producing the best results in the best way. You can learn lessons throughout the project and improve your performance mode quality standpoint throughout the life of a project

Quality Assurance:

Quality assurance provides a check that the project's direction and management are adequate for the nature of the project and then it complies with the relevant corporate or program management standards and policies. Good practice requires the arrangement of quality assurance that is independent of the project management team that is an extremely important point

A project team cannot do their own quality assurance has to be done independently. Quality assurance however is outside the scopeof PRINCE2. On a course and organization may will have its own approach to quality assurance or may even on some occasions use external express consultants to arrange quality assurance. The project managing team undertake quality planning and quality control.

However it is a project management responsibility to ensure that adequate quality assurance is arranged or though the project management teamcannot do their own quality assurance they do have to make sure thatit happens.
