Microsoft has recently released their MS Excel 2016 version for MAC users. According to a survey, the MAC users who have installed this new version on their system are very much satisfied with the performance of this new spreadsheet software. Mac users can now take advantage of MS Office 2016 features. In this article, we will be talking about the MS Excel 2016 tricks that every MAC user must be aware of in order to use this spreadsheet software more effectively on MAC platform.
1. Recommended Charts
Charts is a very useful tool for graphical presentations. This feature is very useful particularly for project managers or team leads, as they have lot of presentations to make either for the stakeholders or team members. The recommended charts featured in new MS Excel 2016 will make their job a bit easier as it will recommend them particular types of charts that would be appropriate for their data. Mac users can either go with the suggestions or they can select a different type of charts that are more appropriate for their presentation. To view the collection of recommended charts available in MS Excel 2016, Mac users can select a cell in the range of data that they want to view, and then on the ribbon, under the Insert tab, click Recommended Charts feature.
2. Formula Builder
Formula Builder feature is particularly handy for the Mac users who have trouble in remembering the MS Excel formulas. The MS Excel 2016 Mac version allows the user to search and insert a function, add data to defined function arguments, and get assistance for any type of function. To use this feature, Mac users have to click the fx button on the Formula bar or press they simply type Shift+F3
3. Chart Formatting task pane
MS Excel 2016 Mac version allows the user to make their presentations more appealing Chart Formatting feature from the task pane. This is a new feature that has been added in MS Excel 2016 version, on this pane, the user can find different styling options on one single pane. This saves a lot of time as the user does not have to traverse to other locations for applying different styling options for their chart. To use this feature, Mac users have to press Cmd+1while a chart element is selected or they can select Format tab on the ribbon and click the Format Pane.
4. PivotTable slicers
Slicers allow the user to filter the data available in the PivotTable without using drop-down lists. To use PivotTable Slicer feature, Mac users have to select the PivotTable they want to filter, and after that on the ribbon, under the PivotTable Analyze tab, they have to click the Insert Slicer button. To filter the PivotTable data, Mac user has to click one or more of the buttons in the slicer.
5. Data Analysis ToolPak
Data Analysis ToolPak is very useful for developing complex statistical and engineering analysis. Mac users have to just provide the data and parameters for the analysis that needs to be performed and the Data Analysis ToolPak tool does the rest of the job. To use this feature, Mac Users have to go to the Tools menu, click Add-Ins, select Data Analysis ToolPak and then click Ok.
6. Keyboard Shortcuts
To maintain uniformity in MS Office 2016 Windows version and Mac version, Microsoft has added similar Excel shortcut keys for both variants. Shortcut keys like Ctrl+O for Open, Ctrl+F for Find and Ctrl+C for Copy now also work in the Mac version. Now users who are new to Mac system will find easy to work on Mac platform as the MS Office shortcut keys are similar on both the platforms. Otherwise, they had to press Cmd instead of Ctrl.
Mac users will now have the feasibility to use MS Office 2016 features with this new release. This would be beneficial for the new Mac users as they will not have to memorize Mac shortcut keys. This will be an added advantage for the Mac users as they can use all the new features available in Microsoft Office 2016 version.
