The ITIL 2011 Foundation certification can be acquired through self‐study, online or classroom. In IT Service Management, the purpose of the ITIL 2011 Foundation certificate is to certify that you have gained knowledge of the ITIL terminology, structure and the core principles of ITIL practices for Service Management.
This certificate is primarily aimed at:

However, the ITIL Foundation level qualification is open to and can benefit anyone who has an interest in the subject. ITIL‐related qualifications scheme is assigned a specific credit value.
